Frequently Asked Questions
To reach Raja Ampat, you will need to take a domestic flight to Sorong. To get to Domine Eduard Osok Airport (IATA: SOQ, ICAO: WASS), we would suggest taking a direct flight from Jakarta (CGK) or Manado (MDC) airports.
Pro tips: if you have few days extra holidays, fly to Manado via Singapore and stay with a land-based resort either in Bunaken or Lembeh. It will be beneficial in getting rid of the jet lag and doing some check dives in top-class dive sites.
We recommend Manado because Sorong is a small harbour city with no activities to offer.
It is common to witness guests who just took intercontinental flights could not wake up (let alone dive) in time, hence not enjoying the first couple days in Raja Ampat.
At the moment, there is no direct flight from Bali to Sorong. You will need to do transit in Makassar (UPG), and sometimes the flight schedule requires you to overnight in this city. There is a hotel within 5 minutes walking inside the airport if you need to take this option.
Once you arrived in Sorong, you will need to take a 10-minute drive to the harbour. Most operators include this car transfer in their holiday packages. Some high end operator will even have a porter looking for you at the luggage collection area.
If you book with a Liveaboard, the pier will be your embarkation point.
If you book with land-based operators, you will need to take boat trip(s) before arriving at your resort. Depends on their location, some resorts will meet you at Sorong pier and take you to the resort island by their fast boat. Meanwhile, some will require you to take the ferry to Waisai Island before picking you up with their fast boat.
We will be more than happy to assist you in booking your domestic flight, car transfers, or ferry ticket in Sorong.
